Stranded in the UK?

The semester is ending here at Harlaxton. Everyone is studying for finals, attempting to pack, and trying to fit everything in these last few days. This past Thursday, April 15, the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano erupted in Iceland. When we first heard about it no one really thought anything, that is until there was news it was canceling flights out of London due to the volcanic ash. On Sunday, we realized the Italy trip is 4 days away and the chances of being able to go are only getting less. It was announced yesterday evening that flights would resume in the northern UK today, and London this afternoon. Another eruption occurred last night, though, and now the Italy trip is looking like it won't happen. I am fine with the trip being canceled because I can always come back another time, I would just like to get home May 1st. The thing is so unpredictable, though, which makes me really nervous. There are speculations it could make a nearby volcano go off which would be even worse. Harlaxton has said we can stay here through the weekend free of charge, but after that we will have to pay. If Italy gets canceled, I will most likely take a trip back to Scotland and take a Highlands tour and maybe visit the south coast of England again. Right now I should be completely packed and getting ready to leave, but if we have to stay here there is no point. It's really crazy to think that right now I am technically stranded in the UK. As much as I love it here, I had mentally prepared myself to go home in 11 days and would really like to do so.

This somewhat shows the extent of the ash cloud

Love and miss you all!
